The carved wooden ceiling bears the inscription <strong>1868 &#8211;<\/strong> placed there by the hands that raised these walls &#8211; and wall paintings draw the eye in every direction. The fireplace is framed by a remarkable painting by Chionates local artisans depicting the marriage of Napoleon and Jos\u00e9phine, a scene of extraordinary intimacy rendered in a mountain village room.
