Napoleon is the crown of Artemis’ Guesthouse, and there is no room quite like it anywhere in Zagori. The carved wooden ceiling bears the inscription 1868 – placed there by the hands that raised these walls – and wall paintings draw the eye in every direction. The fireplace is framed by a remarkable painting by Chionates local artisans depicting the marriage of Napoleon and Joséphine, a scene of extraordinary intimacy rendered in a mountain village room. Two mpasia beds and a private ensuite bathroom complete what is, above all else, a room with a story that takes an entire stay to absorb.
