The Guesthouse

Built in 1868 from the grey local stone that gives every Zagori village its unmistakable color, this house has spent over a century and a half doing exactly what it does now – sheltering people from the mountain weather and giving them somewhere beautiful to come back to.

We restored it slowly and carefully, room by room, respecting the bones of the building: thick stone walls that keep the house cool in August and warm through the mountain winters, deep-set windows, wood-beamed ceilings, slate roofing laid by hand in the old style. Where we added comfort – proper heating, modern bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen – we did it quietly, so the house still feels like 1868 and lives like today.

We rent the house as a whole, to one group at a time. That’s deliberate. This isn’t a guesthouse of separate bookings and strangers sharing a breakfast table – it’s your house, for as long as you’re here.

7 bedrooms, each with its own character, furnished simply with an eye for the details that matter
1 fully equipped kitchen – cook with what you bought at the village or the Ioannina market, or with what the garden gives
A common dining and sitting area with a fireplace, built around the old tradition of the long table – the place where the day actually happens: coffee in the morning, tsipouro in the evening, cards and conversation in between
Stone-built throughout, with the details original to the house preserved wherever we could keep them
